Internet Explorer comes with an Adobe Reader add-on that is used to view PDF files in IE. If you disable this add-on in Internet Explorer then PDFs launch in the native Adobe application and the ndOffice integration will be used (if installed). Instead, the webpage in the application cannot load the Adobe Reader ActiveX control, and the webpage displays only a white page with a black 'X' symbol.   4. Click 'OK' and a message will prompt that un-registering 'ZIEPDF.ocx' or 'IEPDFPlus.ocx' has 'Succeeded'.
  5. Click 'OK'.

Note: After performing these steps the user will be prompted to 'Save' or 'Open' PDF files when clicking on a link within Internet Explorer. If 'Open' is selected the PDF file will open outside of Internet Explorer in whatever PDF application the user has set as the default viewer.

To enable the plug-in:

  1. Close Internet Explorer.
  2. Click “Start > Run”.
  3. Type the following:

  4. Click 'OK' and a message will prompt that registering 'ZIEPDF.ocx' or 'IEPDFPlus.ocx' has “Succeeded”.
  5. Click 'OK'.

If PDF files fail to load in Internet Explorer after the 'IEPDFPLUS.ocx' has been registered then please use the following steps to determine if Internet Explorer 7 is disabling the plug-in.

Windows 10 x32

To enable the plug-in within Internet Explorer:

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. Select 'Tools > Manage Add-ons'.
  3. Click 'Enable or Disable Add-ons'.
  4. Check the 'Add-ons currently loaded in Internet Explorer' and look for 'IEPDFPlus Control'.
  5. Make sure 'IEPDFPlus Control' is marked as 'Enabled'.
  6. If this does not show as enabled then choose 'Enable' below the 'Settings' header.
  7. Restart Internet Explorer.

Note: If the 'IEPDFPlus Control' in the 'Manage Add-ons' dialog does not appear then the Internet Explorer 7 'Security level' is set at a level that prevents the plug-in from loading. In this case, set the 'Security level' to 'Default level' or 'Medium-High'. This should allow the plug-in to load.

To change the 'Security level' in Internet Explorer:

  3. Click 'Default Level' or specify 'Medium-High'.
  4. Click 'Apply'.
  5. Click 'OK'.
